Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia is a major tourist destination for overseas and local visitors. A one and half hour drive from the Capital City of Melbourne and its Nature Park highly promoted with the nightly parade of Fairy Penguins, the Koala Reserve, historic Churchill Island and many wondrous coastline walks and attractions.

The beauty and close proximity to the city has always attracted the creative being, especially visual artists.

This very uniqueness inspired artists Russell Kent and Josephine Allen and in 1986 they created Island Influence, to promote artists of the Phillip Island region in one off exhibitions and continued in this form until 1989.

In 1994 they registered the name to include all their diverse Art activities and in 1996 set up a public venue in a shared factory in Cowes, Phillip Island.

In 1998 they moved into a factory with a showroom of their own and began showing other artists, holding regular exhibitions, curating collections, art activities and producing art products.

In May 2001 Island Influence moved to The Big Flower Farm, a tourist complex with Café, flower sales, tours of the farm, gifts and a very large gallery space in which Island Influence showed up to 25 regional artists plus special exhibitions.

In October 2003 Island Influence became an Art Agency (go to Artists page to visit our Artists) with Online Exhibitions (go to Exhibitions page).
